HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND IN Pasadena?
The Los Angeles area tends to be on the expensive side and it is very possible to spend a lot of money while visiting. However, many students find creative ways to cut costs and it is also very possible to stay in Pasadena on a tight budget! How much students spend per day depends a lot on their personal tastes, lifestyle, etc.
Here is a basic breakdown of what students might expect to spend per day in Pasadena:
Accommodations: Most hotels in the Pasadena area have rates starting around $85 in late December. For students traveling from out of town: we highly recommend staying with roommates to cut costs. Are you in need of roommate? Consider joining the ADF Housing Collective. Visit the Housing & Travel webpage for more information.
Food: We would recommend finding lodging with a kitchen, as preparing food at home will greatly cut costs. Students who eat at restaurants can expect to spend approximately $5-$15 for breakfast, $10-$25 for lunch, and $15-$25 + for dinner (these costs reflect modest and cheap meals).
Local Transportation: See the Housing & Travel webpage for more information.
Attractions, nightlife, etc.: These costs can vary depending on what students plan to do! We recommend setting aside at least $20 per day if students plan to immerse themselves in tourist attractions, nightlife, etc.
