ADF PERFORMANCE PHOTOGRAPHER
The Performance Photographer will provide photo coverage of the 2012 Season (and potential seasons thereafter). Candidates must have their own digital equipment and be available to work during both day and evening hours. Some weekend hours may be required. Hours vary from week to week but average 20 hours per week plus editing time. Photographers must also have appropriate knowledge of and software for editing. Candidate must also have experience taking action shots and be comfortable shooting in low light. Some images must be provided digitally in correct size and format on a weekly basis. Quick turn around time on photos is essential for ADF publicity purposes. Applicants must be able to meet fast and strict deadlines. Events to be photographed include, but are not limited to, dress rehearsal/photo calls, live performances, company master classes, children's matinees and parties, post performance discussions, as well as other events that occur during the season. Prior experience with dance photography, press photography, and quick deadlines is a plus. AUDIENCE SERVICES ASSISTANT
update 1.25.12: Anyone who has already applied for the Box Office Coordinator position will be considered for this position.
This position reports to the Marketing & Audience Services Associate. Duties include but are not limited to daily ticket sales reporting, updating internal spreadsheets, communicating with Duke and Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) box offices daily regarding seating holds and comp requests, and assisting supervisor with any other box office needs. Previous box office experience (preferably within the performing arts) is required. Knowledge of and experience with Excel and Google Docs is required. Customer service experience is preferred. Must be detail-oriented, have spreadsheet reporting experience and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment with a positive attitude. Must have own transportation. Evening and weekend work is required. DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: end of May through end of July 2012.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING ASSISTANT (new as of 1.26.12)
The Communications and Marketing Assistant will report to both the Communications and Marketing Associate and the Marketing and Audience Services Associate. This person will assist with press releases, public service announcements, material distribution, organizing and attending photo calls, all marketing related events, assembling mass mailings and press kits, and assisting with press representation at evening performances. Responsible for collecting and archiving press clippings and maintaining press board, as well as other projects as deemed necessary. Also assists with VIP transportation. Must have excellent writing and editing skills, be creative, flexible, and have a good eye for detail and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required. Evening and weekend work required. Previous experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and social media highly preferred. DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: end of May through end of July 2012.
FOOD/HOUSING COORDINATOR
Works closely with the Food and Housing intern and in conjunction with the School and Finance offices. The Food and Housing Office is responsible for planning and implementing receptions and parties and arranging all food and housing requests with Duke University for the ADF students and professionals throughout the festival. Requires ability to work well under pressure and handle concurrent, multiple tasks. Must be detail and customer-service oriented and have an interest in the arts. Entry-level summer position. DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: May through July 2012.
MFA PROGRAM COORDINATOR I
Is responsible for the operations of the MFA program’s administrative office. Works closely with the MFA Director; supports the MFA faculty; coordinates transportation and housing for visiting guests; collects, processes, documents and archives all materials; organize orientation, registration, daily functions and special events; acts as primary line of communication with MFA candidates; interacts with the ADF offices; supervises office personnel; and more. Must be highly organized with exceptional interpersonal skills, creative, flexible, able to function and give direction in an intense, multi-tasked environment. Previous administrative experience required. Must have valid drivers license. Also participates in the setup/tear-down and transfer of the MFA offices from Hollins University to ADF and back. Contract extends ADF.
MFA LAB STAFF
Lab Staff provides technical support and instruction to the MFA candidates within the Media lab setting. Responsibilities include general tech support on lab equipment; develop and conduct tutorial workshops to meet the needs of MFA’s; maintain detailed inventory of lab equipment, monitoring check-in/out of equipment to MFA’s; supervising lab assistants; participate in the setup/tear-down and transfer of the MFA offices from Hollins University to ADF and back. Must be Mac proficient with exceptional knowledge of software, creative, flexible, patient and posses good interpersonal skills. Contract extends ADF.
MFA PROGRAM COORDINATOR II
Assists in the operations of the MFA program. Is a primary component in the execution of the day-to-day function of the administrative office; helps coordinate events, guests, orientation, registration; collects, processes, documents and archives; communications; and more. Must be highly organized with exceptional interpersonal skills, creative, flexible, able to take direction and function in an intense, multi-tasked environment. MFA THESIS COORDINATOR
Coordinates, maps, and implements the thesis presentations of MFA candidates. Working along side the Instructor of Graduate Critique; scheduling rehearsal and performance space; acting as liaison between the MFA office and the Production Director; attentive to all details of multiple productions. Must be highly organized and competent, with exceptional communication skills. Previous experience in concert producing preferred. Will also participate in the setup/tear-down and transfer of the MFA offices from Hollins University to ADF and back. Contract extends ADF.
RECEPTIONIST
Answers very busy multi-line phone system. Must be able to work well with the public and take accurate, detailed messages in a very fast paced environment. Organized and detail oriented. SCHOOL OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
The School Operations Office manages all studio, transportation, equipment, and technical needs for the ADF community of more than 500 students, faculty and professionals. The School Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all rehearsal studio allocation, ADF bus schedules and maintenance, studio upkeep, and execution of setup/breakdown for all school related events. Will supervise and organize work schedules for a staff of interns, staff assistants, and assigned scholarship students. This position requires the ability to work well under pressure and handle concurrent, multiple tasks. Must be detail and customer-service oriented, have an interest in the arts, and possess a positive attitude. Evening and weekend work required. DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: May through July 2012.
SCHOOL TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
The School Operations Office manages all studio, transportation, equipment, and technical needs for the ADF community of more than 500 students, faculty and professionals. In addition to assisting the School Operations Coordinator, the School Technical Assistant is responsible for arranging all technical needs (sound, video, etc) for all classes, rehearsals, events, and showings associated with the ADF School. Will execute setup/breakdown and operation of equipment during all School events. Will also supervise equipment checkout for entire ADF community. Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with the flexibility to perform last-minute tasks as necessary. Experience in dance production is required. Evening and weekend work required. VIDEO BLOG PRODUCTION COORDINATOR
The Video Blog Production Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and scouting locations for all film shoots, creating interview questions, and writing all text that accompanies each video post. Coordinator must be present at all film shoots with the Videographer. Posts will be made 3-4 times a week, unless otherwise requested by supervisor. Blog Production Coordinator will help generate post ideas. Position works closely with the Blog Videographer & Editor and is supervised by the Marketing & Communications Coordinators. Requires flexibility in a high-paced environment and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail-oriented with an interest in the arts. Must have own transportation. DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: May through July 2012.
VIDEO BLOG VIDEOGRAPHER AND EDITOR
The Video Blog Videographer and Editor is responsible for filming all shoots, helping create interview questions, and editing each blog post into its final version for presentation. Videographer/Editor must be present at all film shoots with the Coordinator. Posts will be made 3-4 times a week, unless otherwise requested by supervisor. Blog Videographer and Editor will help generate post ideas. Position works closely with the Blog Productions Coordinator and is supervised by the Marketing & Communications Coordinators. Requires flexibility in a high-paced environment and excellent knowledge of editing in Final Cut software. WFSS COORDINATOR
WFSS are classes that take place in the Six Week School on Wednesdays, Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays, a schedule that changes weekly. The position is a part of the school office and will work closely with the Co-Deans and the Director of School Administration to ensure that all needs are met for classes and events happening in the WFSS schedule. Responsibilities include scheduling WFSS classes, posting/updating the weekly schedule in a timely manner, coordinating logistics and classroom needs with the School Operations Office, accurate financial tracking and reconciliation, and organizing all aspects of the 6WS student concert. Will also assist all WFSS faculty with various needs, ranging from coordinating auditions to room/board/travel. Computer skills required. Must also possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment. Prior experience with ADF a plus. Evening and weekend work required.
