A free movement class for persons with Parkinson’s and their families, friends and care partners.

Friday, July 21

Please note this class will be held at:

**Hull Avenue Studio**
Duke University
1515 Hull Ave
Durham, NC 27705

This class will be FREE OF CHARGE and led by Rita Dohohue from the Mark Morris Dance Group.

In Dance for PD® classes, participants explore movement and music in ways that are enjoyable, stimulating and creative. The internationally-acclaimed Dance for PD® program, developed collaboratively by Mark Morris Dance Group and Brooklyn Parkinson Group, is built on one fundamental premise: professionally-trained dancers are movement experts whose knowledge, strategies and expressive approach to moving are useful to persons with Parkinson’s. This award-winning program, which just celebrated its 15th year, is appropriate for anyone with PD, no matter how advanced. No dance experience is required. In chairs, at a barre or moving across the floor, you will explore elements of modern dance, ballet, tap, folk and social dancing, and Mark Morris company repertory in a non-pressured, social environment in which live music energizes, enriches and empowers. Classes modeled after Dance for PD are available in more than 120 communities in 20 countries. For more information, please visit

Starting in July, ADF is proud to offer NEW Parkinson’s Movement Initiative classes in partnership with NC Dance for Parkinson’s and Poe Wellness Solutions and supported by a grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation. Through funds raised by Moving Day® North Carolina, a walk for Parkinson’s, all classes offered through the Parkinson’s Movement Initiative are free for people living with PD and their caregivers.  More info here.
