2010 Arts Administrative Internship Descriptions

Box Office (1) Works with the Box Office to process single ticket/subscription orders through box office system. Intern also works closely with ADF Marketing & Communications Office. Must be detail- and customer-service oriented and possess the ability to think on your feet. Previous sales experience helpful. Evening and weekend work required. Excellent opportunity to fine-tune skills applicable to numerous facets of the performing arts. $1,100 stipend*

Development & Special Events (1)
Works closely with the development staff on the planning and execution of various special events, including the Scripps/ADF Award ceremony and reception. Also responsible for VIP guests and providing general administrative support. Must be flexible, detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Evening and weekend work required. Must be 21 or over. $950 stipend*

Executive (1)
Works in the office of the ADF Directors and ADF Executive Assistants. Responsibilities include general administrative support for a busy office; assisting the Directors; coordinating the visits of VIP festival guests; assist the International Choreographers Residency (ICR) coordinator; facilitate the production of Dancing for the Camera: International Festival of Film and Video Dance; assisting with special events planning and more. Must be flexible, detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend*

Finance (1)
Works with the Finance Assistant and the Director of Finance and Administration. Assists with cash receipts, accounts payable, parking permits and other miscellaneous duties. Computer experience required. Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Interest in the arts preferred. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend

Food & Housing (1)
Works closely with the Food and Housing Coordinator and in conjunction with the school and finance offices. The Food and Housing office is responsible for planning and implementing housing, receptions and parties and arranging food and housing requests with Duke University for the ADF students and professionals throughout the festival. Must be detail- and customer-service oriented. Evening and weekend work required. $1,100 stipend

Graphic Design (1)
Assists the Graphic & Web Designer on season projects, including the creation of ads, programs and e-blasts. Works closely with printing companies and is responsible for designing and maintaining theater and community displays. This fast-paced and deadline oriented position allows for the opportunity to build an excellent portfolio. Works closely with the Marketing and Communications staff and interns, and assists with VIP transportation. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop required. Some evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend*

Merchandising (1)
Will manage day-to-day operations of the ADF Store, which has locations on East Campus and at both theaters. Responsibilities include inventory control, daily/weekly cash reports, and supervision of the scholarship students and volunteers who work in the store and at the theater. Must be a detail-oriented self-starter, with mathematical proficiency and a creative eye for visual display. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred. Evening and weekend work required. $1,100 stipend*

Marketing & Communications (2)
Assists in all aspects of the Marketing and Communications Office, including press releases, public service announcements, and organizing photo calls; assembles mass mailings and press kits; assists with press representation at evening performances. Responsible for collecting and archiving press clippings and maintaining press board. Also assists with the Institute for Dance Criticism conference and VIP transportation. Must have excellent writing and editing skills, be creative, flexible, and have a good eye for detail and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience with social media preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Word required. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend*

MFA Video Production (1)
Responsible for the video documentation of MFA activities and events such as thesis concerts and classes. Responsible for duplication, labeling and logging of videos. Experience with digital video recording required. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend*

Performances (2)
Participate in and are responsible for activities directly related to the administrative coordination of the professional performances and community outreach programs. Assist in communicating with the companies, production crew and community organizations. At times responsible for transporting company members. Must have good organizational skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks and an aptitude for detailed work. Evening and weekend work required. Must be 21 or over. $950 stipend*

School (2)
Assists the Dean and Director of School Administration & Student Affairs with all aspects of the ADF Schools and Workshops. This includes working with an international student body and faculty totaling more than 500 people. Responsibilities include acting as a liaison between the Six Week School, special workshops and the Four Week School for Young Dancers; scheduling and coordinating scholarship students' work responsibilities; assisting school VIPs and many other tasks involved in the administrative and day-to-day aspects of the ADF. Computer skills required. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend*

School Operations (3)
Works closely with the School Technical Coordinator and the School Operations Coordinator. With the School Office, School Operations coordinates the studio, equipment, transportation and technical needs for the ADF community of more than 500 students, faculty and professionals. Evening and weekend work required. $1,100 stipend

School Video Production (1)
Responsible for the video documentation of ADF school activities and events such as student concerts, class showings, discussions with artists and master classes. Responsible for duplication, labeling and logging of videos. Experience with digital video recording required. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend*

Video Production/Archives (2)
Assists the ADF videographer and the ADF archivist in the recording of dance performances and other events. Responsible for editing, duplicating, labeling, and logging videos and providing other assistance as needed. Experience with camera, sound, and duplication equipment is helpful but not required. An interest in the recording and preservation of dance preferred. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend*

2010 Production Internships

Production
Work on the crew for the 35-plus performances of the ADF season. Responsibilities will vary from show to show, including stage management, wardrobe, sound, electrics and carpentry. Experience in dance production is preferred. $1,100 stipend
