Hailing from countries as diverse as the United States, the United Kingdom and Finland, these presenters will address issues ranging from how screendance is perceived, present theories and their influences within the genre, and the premise of real bodies on screen. The presenters will challenge the audience to engage in questions regarding the art and encourage thoughtful discussion on the subject.

An Intimate Discussion with Meredith Monk
A unique opportunity to hear renowned interdisciplinary artist Meredith Monk talk about her pioneering work in film. Monk's films, ranging from her earliest work in the 1960's to the most recent, have been heralded as both haunting and elegant. The discussion will be moderated by Douglas Rosenberg and will be proceeded by a rare screening of Monk’s award-winning 1981 film “Ellis Island.”
Dancing for the Camera
Conference participants will be able to attend the ADF's 13th annual Dancing for the Camera: International Festival of Film and Video Dance. This annual festival, directed and curated by Douglas Rosenberg, has screened more than 250 dance films to international audiences . The 2008 Festival will feature more than 15 films from countries including Canada, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Venezuela, and the United Kingdom.
Anniversary Festivities
As members of the ADF community, attendees will have additional access to networking opportunities and the option of attending a shared performance by Meredith Monk and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, which will be presenting a world premiere as part of the ADF’s 75th anniversary performances.
