Pilobolus Shadow Workshop for Adults

This workshop, led by the beloved, internationally-renowned dance company Pilobolus, invites you to experience Pilobolus’ collaborative creative process and shadow-making techniques. The class is playful, group-driven, physically challenging, and fun. Pilobolus fans and curious minds from all walks of life will learn to access untapped areas of creativity and improve effectiveness in a group. Go “behind the screen” and work with others to create incredible composite shapes and shadow magic.

About the instructors:
 

Edwin Olvera, a proud Wisconsinite, has spread his wings far and wide. His skill and ability has been of worldwide note as he has performed and taught in locations across the globe. After attending UW-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts, Edwin joined the world renowned dance company, Pilobolus Dance Theater, where he was an integral force in the choreographic & creation process over the course of eleven years. During this time, he was featured on countless television shows and commercial advertisements including Sesame Street, Born to Dance, and the NFL Channel. Edwin has collaborated with international artists Inbal Pinto and Basil Twist and has been featured in articles by both Dance and Dancer Magazine. In 2015 under the guidance of Olympic choreographers Gavin Robins and Leigh-Anne Vizer, Edwin was a dance captain for a team of 150 performers within the 44th national Dubai Day celebration. In 2016 he was a movement artist for Britney Spears at the MTV VMA’s in Madison Square Garden. As a creative entrepreneur, Edwin blogs about what it takes to be a successful freelance dancer! Gaspard Louis was born and raised in Haiti. His performance experience includes touring with the cutting-edge and internationally-renowned Pilobolus Dance Theater. In addition to performing, touring, and teaching globally with Pilobolus, he collaborated on nine major dance works during this formative decade with the company. He has also choreographed for Freespace Dance Company in New Jersey and Kentucky University Dance Ensemble. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Gaspard&Dancers and currently directs the American Dance Festival’s year-round creative movement outreach program, ADF Project Dance, which provides free dance classes to Triangle-area youth.
