Jen Guy Metcalf is a dance educator, choreographer, photographer, and filmmaker. She earned a B.F.A. in Dance with a concentration in Ballet from Point Park University and an M.F.A. in Choreography from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Most recently, she successfully completed the full American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum and is an ABT® Certified Teacher. As a dancer, she performed leading roles in ballets such as, “Swan Lake,” “Les Sylphides,” “Paquita,” “The Nutcracker,” “Giselle,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Serenade,” and “Coppélia” to name a few. Jen performed many original works with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Playhouse Dance Company, Jacksonville Ballet Theatre, and for several independent choreographers. During her time with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, she performed at venues in Pittsburgh and on tour including the distinguished Elsie Awards at the Carnegie Museum where Oscar nominee and Emmy Award winning, Rob Marshall, was honored for his choreographic and directing work. Jen is the founder and artistic director of TERRANOVA Dance Theatre. The mission of the company is to create innovative work for the stage (concert dance), site (site-specific dance), and screen (dance for camera). She is an award-winning choreographer and filmmaker who presented her work in the US, Ireland, Sweden, France, England, Turkey, Scotland, Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. She has received multiple grants to support her creative projects, research, and her work with Dance for Parkinson’s. She is currently an Associate Professor of Dance at Elon University where she teaches Ballet, Pointe, Pilates, Dance for the Camera, and other courses in the Dance Program.
