ShaLeigh Dance Works is developing an immersive and inclusive performance form that does not solicit the viewer’s sight, but rather all their other senses. enVISION: Sensory Beyond Sight will premiere at The Fruit June 3-5, 2022. The work is accessible to people with visual disabilities and to the general public (who can choose to experience the show blindfolded). This multi-phase project has brought together, in a collective creative process, a team of collaborators around a single challenge: to tell a story through dance and theatre beyond their visual dimension, by the elaboration of new atmospheres, and through a close interaction between the performer and the spectator.

About the company

Known for a diverse ensemble that consists of some of Durham’s most brilliant and versatile performers, ShaLeigh Dance Works is a dance-theatre company incorporating a wide variety of groundbreaking movement vocabularies that exist in the world of contemporary dance.

Their success has taken them from performances and creative residencies in NYC to Germany, England, Israel, and Japan. Since establishing Durham as their home in 2014, the company has had the privilege of receiving commissions, residencies, and tours along the east coast, in addition to their ongoing engagement work in the Durham area.
