ADF Showings at Scripps: Marion Spencer

$

American Dance Festival is pleased to invite you to an open showing.

The showing will be at 5pm on Sunday, June 8th.

We hope you will join us for this special event!  This is a FREE event, but we do ask that you make a reservation in advance. With thanks for your interest and support.

New York City-based choreographer and interdisciplinary dance artist marion spencer will share brand new solo material emerging as part of a series of solo works excavating lineage, memory, archive and dreams amidst onrushing climate catastrophe. This new research is feminine, feminist, interdisciplinary and inspired by the act and process of shedding – internal, external, embodied and archival. Part shrine to and in question of what we hold onto and why, this project asks – ‘how do we archive’, ‘where do we put our things’, ‘what must we let go of’ and ‘what can we still dream for’ in a world of monstrous climate catastrophe? Made and performed by marion spencer, this informal showing marks the culmination of marion’s creative residency at ADF, with gratitude to ADF for supporting the very beginning stages of this new solo project.
