Movement Practices w/ Jordan Lloyd

This class begins slowly, with an emphasis on arriving. Together, we work through an extended warm up that combines various elements of yoga, somatics, and breathwork, gradually releasing tension and encouraging openness in the body and mind. Through improvisation and set sequences, this class hopes to impart and heighten the sensations of the weighted body to find length, and clarity in movement. Pulling from modern dance fundamentals, phrase work is then researched as a framework through which a relational awareness can be activated and engaged; channelling instincts, pleasure, awareness, and imagination. With deep gratitude for our bodies and our minds, this class will fall into several different pockets, embracing a range of indulgent, lush, and rigorous dance experiences. Together, we will dance, and dance, and dance some more.
