Joanie Ferguson is a drummer, percussionist, and improvisational composer. She is currently in her 12th year as an accompanist for the dance programs at both Emory University and Agnes Scott College and is a member of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance. This is Joanie’s fourth time accompanying classes for the renowned American Dance Festival. She also is an accompanist for the Southeast regional American College Dance Association. She has worked with several dance companies in Atlanta, most recently composing and performing the live score for Blake Beckham (http://www.theluckypenny.org/) in her piece “No End No Return” featured in the Off The Edge Dance Festival in Atlanta on March 1st, 2019.
Before dance, Ferguson had an extensive background as a touring drummer, opening for many notable artists including Toto, Willie Nelson, The Doobie Brothers, Sister Hazel, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Mother’s Finest, Edwin McCain, Hootie & The Blowfish, Butch Walker, Drivin’ N Cryin’, Madeski, Martin & Wood, and Better Than Ezra, to name a few.
