Lamar Lewis, a Durham native, has studied with master musicians of Chuck Davis’ African American Dance Ensemble: Modibo Keta, Khalid Saleem, and Bradley Simmons. He has also been intensively mentored by master Afro-Cuban percussionist Vladimir Espinosa. Lamar is an accompanist at Elon University and UNC Greensboro. He is also a member of the contemporary world music band Africa Unplugged and the contemporary Afro-Brazilian band Batuque De Terriero. Lamar received his B.S. in Biological Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. Ultimately, his passion is community outreach through the combined disciplines of arts and sciences.
