Limón Tech + Rep w/ Brenna Monroe-Cook

In this class we will explore the hallmark principles of José Limón’s style: breath and its effect on movement; gravity and the play between resisting and succumbing to that force; the physics of opposition, momentum, and inertia and how these can bring efficiency, power, and drama to our movement; complex rhythmic and textural dynamics; and the intertwining of form and freedom. We will further deepen our understanding and experience of these ideas as we delve into a selection of excerpts from Limón’s timeless repertoire, honing our unique ability as movers to express our individuality as well as our common humanity.
