Contemporary Modern Technique: From the Diaspora and Beyond with Momar Ndiaye/Jordan Lloyd

The first two weeks of the class will be focused on merging different patrimonial African dances with contemporary modern techniques, facilitated by Momar Ndiaye. The second half will expand the ideas of contemporary technique, focusing on a range of different skill sets that support contemporary dance performance with Jordan Demetrius Lloyd. Over the four weeks students will engage in complex musicality and calculated movement sequences. We will find pleasure in moving our bodies and bring our awareness to the collective experience. This class is designed to integrate various parts of the body and deepen sensorial awareness through fast footwork, quick shifts in weight, and expansive full-bodied movement.
