Repertory w/ Momar Ndiaye

This repertory course is designed to immerse students in a collaborative creative process of remaking or making a contemporary work heavily influenced by patrimonial dances from Africa. With the idea of performing a finished short piece at the end of the course, students will learn a new movement vocabulary and will be guided through the process of generating movements with their own signature. Together we will re-contextualize the work with the intension of adding each student’s artistic voice. In this course, students are expected to be open minded and ready to learn dance forms that may be foreign to them. Students are also expected to actively participate in all activities, collaborate with their comrades, and perform the finished work at the end of the course.
