Welcome to the ADF Summer Dance Intensive (SDI)!
June 16–July 17, 2022
Below is important information and resources for your day-to-day life at ADF.
Arrival and Departure
Arrival/Check-in Day: Thursday, June 16
Students check-in 10:00 AM–2:00 PM on Thursday, June 16. Students should plan to arrive to ADF to check-in at Gilbert-Addoms Residence Hall, located at 1368 Campus Dr., Durham, NC on Duke University’s East Campus, where the ADF summer administrative offices are located.
At check-in, students receive their check-in packet, finalized intensive schedules, ADF/Duke ID card, a prepaid ADF T-Shirt (paid by May 16), dorm housing information and key if living on-campus, parking pass, and will resolve any outstanding student form or billing matters. All students must check-in before attending opening weekend events or classes.
Early Arrivals: Advanced check-in and early move in dates for dorm residents cannot be accommodated. Please make separate arrangements if you plan to arrive in Durham before June 16. Exceptions include work-study students, stagecraft apprentices, and international students.
Late Arrivals: ADF strongly encourages students to arrive during the designated check-in time, but understands that extenuating circumstances may arise. Students unable to arrive by 2:00 PM on June 16 must notify the ADF School as soon as possible so arrangements for their check-in can be made. Late arrivals will be permitted on a case-by-case basis. Fees will not be prorated for students who arrive late to the festival.
Departure: Monday, July 18
All final intensive performances will occur on Sunday, July 17. All students should plan to depart the festival on Monday, July 18 at the time that works best for them. Dorm residents must be checked out by 11:00 AM on Monday, July 18. Check out procedures will be included in each dorm resident’s check-in packet. Select work-study students are expected to stay longer and have been provided their departure date individually.
Dining On-Campus
There are dining points/cash loaded to each students’ ADF/Duke ID card that is living in a dorm for the total amount of $1,425. This covers dinner on the date of arrival, breakfast on the date of departure, and 3 meals/day for all other days. Each meal swipe will reduce the total cash balance on the student’s card. To track the remaining balance at anytime, ask any dining vendor for a receipt. The points loaded to the card will also be accepted in various vending machines and laundry machines in student dorms or other locations. Please note, unused funds are nonrefundable

Gender Neutral Bathrooms
All-Gender Bathrooms in ADF-Relevant Spaces
ADF believes in inclusion and fairness, which includes the right for each individual to access public facilities according to their gender as opposed to their biological sex. All-gender bathrooms exist in some, but not all classrooms and performance spaces. Wherever male/female facilities are the only options available, ADF honors the right for students, faculty, and staff to choose the facility that makes them most comfortable. We acknowledge that this is an imperfect situation and hope that the campuses that ADF occupies will prioritize updating their facilities to be fully inclusive.
