ADF offers more classes, discussions, performances, and opportunities to create and perform than can be experienced in a single summer. Identify priorities for a rich and manageable program and allow the festival to serve that agenda.
Intensive Class Schedule
Full-time students choose three classes per day to attend: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for the four-week intensive. Part-time students choose one class per day to attend. Every Wednesday, Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday (also known as WFSS), there are drop-in classes, masterclasses with performing companies, and workshops that allow you to add complexity to your regular schedule and experience different teachers.
Class Registration
Students must register for their block classes through the online application before arriving at the festival. Class registration opens online on March 20, 2025. Registration is completed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How to register for classes
- Complete your online application for the Summer Dance Intensive, pay the $75 nonrefundable application fee, and wait for your application to be accepted.
- To register for classes, students must pay their $300 non-refundable deposit in the Fees & Deposit stage of your application.
- Choose a first and second choice for all three class blocks. If all your class choices are closed, the Director of School Administration will place you in the remaining open classes.
- Students who would like to register for repertory classes should select HOLD FOR REP AUDITIONS or FOOTPRINTS AUDITIONS under their 3rd block class option. Please make sure to select a second-class option for 3rd.
- Any class request changes will be submitted during the drop/add period during the first week of the intensive. Students cast in Footprints repertory will have their schedule updated by the Director of School Administration when casting is completed in April.
Repertory
ADF Repertory classes provide students with a chance to explore the creative and rehearsal process with ADF faculty members. All repertory classes will perform at the SDI Informal Showing. All full-time ADF students can audition for repertory classes on the Opening Weekend of SDI.

Once registration is finalized at the top of SDI’s first week, students are committed to their confirmed schedule. The evening and weekend drop-in schedule provides ample opportunity to take class from the full ADF faculty roster, as well as guest artists and visiting performing companies.
